Rameez Raja becomes the new chairman of PCB, the term will be for three years

Former Pakistan captain and member of the 1992 Cricket World Cup winning team Rameez Raja has been elected as the new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Rameez Raja has been appointed unopposed to this post for the next three years. Rameez is the 36th chairman of PCB. Rameez was elected as the chairman of the board in a special meeting chaired by the PCB Election Commissioner, Retd Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed.

Rameez Raja issued a statement saying, “I am thankful to all of you for being elected to this position. I am committed to work with you all for the betterment of Pakistan cricket. Hope we all share.” With this, the cricket field in Pakistan and everywhere off the field will be stronger.”

Rameez said, “Our job as an organization is to stand behind our team. At the same time provide them with the necessary facilities and support. So that they can play the kind of cricket that the country and their fans expect from them. “

At the same time, he said, “It will be my endeavor to bring back the same fearless game-playing era for the Pakistan cricket team for which we were once known around the world.”

Rameez’s second stint with PCB

Rameez Raja played 255 One Day Internationals for Pakistan, in which he scored 8,674 runs. This is Rameez’s second stint with the PCB. Prior to this, he served as the chief executive of the PCB from 2003 to 2004. Apart from this, Rameez is the fourth cricketer who has become the chairman of PCB. Before him, Ejaz Butt, Javed Burki and Abdul Hafeez Kardar have worked in this post.

Rameez was the first choice of Pakistan PM Imran Khan

On 27 August, Rameez Raja was nominated for the post of chairman of the board by Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the patron of the PCB. Rameez was the first choice of Pakistani PM after the announcement of Ehsan Mani’s resignation.
