Notice of compensation to anti-CAA protesters

Bijnor. About three years ago, during the anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) and NRC (National Register of Citizens) protests, the police issued notices to 60 protesters of Nahtaur, who were involved in incidents of violence and arson, to compensate for the loss of Rs 57 lakh. has instructed.

Nahtaur police station in-charge Pankaj Tomar said on Saturday that on December 20, 2019, the protests against CAA/NRC in Nahtaur had taken a violent form. He said the mob had vandalized government property and torched police jeeps and motorcycles parked at the police station.

According to Tomar, during this the mob also pelted stones at the police and in response the police had to open fire. He told that in the violent demonstration, two youths, namely Anas and Salman, were killed due to bullet injuries. According to Tomar, the administration had assessed the loss of government property to the tune of Rs 57 lakh during the protest. He said that the police has now issued notices to 60 accused involved in the violence for compensation of Rs 57 lakh.
