Mallikarjun Kharge targets Modi, says distribution of appointment letters is just an ‘election stunt’

New Delhi. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for distributing 71,000 appointment letters to newly recruited employees under the job fair, terming it an “election stunt”. “PM is distributing 71,000 job letters to ‘mislead’ voters,” Kharge tweeted in reference to the upcoming Gujarat assembly elections.

Claiming that 30 lakh posts are vacant in various departments, he said, “The Prime Minister had promised to provide two crore jobs every year. Sixteen crore jobs were to be given in eight years, but this is just an ‘election stunt’ in which only thousands got employment.”

Recently, Congress President Kharge while addressing a party program here accused the ruling government of not taking any steps to solve the issue of unemployment. He said that the Modi government is only misleading the public.

The BJP government has not taken any step in this direction. Significantly, the first phase of elections in Gujarat will be held on December 1 in 89 assembly constituencies and in the second phase on December 5 in 93 seats. The counting of votes will take place on December 8.
