Live telecast of the proceedings of the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court begins

New Delhi. The Supreme Court on Tuesday started live telecast of its Constitution Bench proceedings for the first time. An official said the proceedings can be viewed on the Supreme Court website.

On Monday, Chief Justice UU Lalit had said it would have its own “platform” instead of using ‘YouTube’ for live streaming of court proceedings.

In a recent meeting chaired by the Chief Justice, it was decided to live telecast the proceedings of all Constitution Benches from September 27. The decision was taken almost four years after a verdict in this regard was pronounced in 2018.

It is noteworthy that on September 27, 2018, the then Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra took a historic decision regarding live telecast or webcast of proceedings of cases of constitutional importance. (Language)
