According to the Indian calendar, the eighth month of the year that comes after the month of Ashwin, Kartik month is considered to be very holy from all pilgrimages and religious activities. From this day onwards all Manglik works are started. Due to the special importance of bathing in the holy rivers of the country, in this month both married and unmarried women bathe in the rivers in Brahmamuhurta and donate.

Donating in this month is also considered beneficial. The first fifteen days of Kartik month i.e. the nights of Kartik Krishna Paksha are among the darkest nights of the year. Lighting a lamp daily in these fifteen days just before the awakening of Lakshmi husband gives a new direction in life. There is also a special law of lamp donation. This lamp is done in temples, rivers besides in the sky. Not only this, Brahmin food, cow donation, Tulsi donation, Amla donation and food donation also have importance. Sun worship is especially fruitful during this time. The worship of Vrinda i.e. Tulsi in the month of Kartik has a specific mythological significance. It is believed that Lord Vishnu resides in the heart of Tulsi in the form of Shaligram. Therefore, in this month dedicated to health, taking Tulsi Puja and Tulsi Dal’s offerings leads to better health.

It is believed that by worshiping Tulsi, the beloved of Lord Vishnu, devotees can please Lord Vishnu as well. Therefore, in this month, devotees especially worship Tulsi and after bathing daily, offer water to Tulsi and Sun and offer prayers. The body remains healthy by taking Tulsi leaves. It is customary to put Tulsi leaves while making Charanamrit. There is a law to donate a Tulsi plant in the month of Kartik, to light a lamp in the morning and evening near the Tulsi plant. When the Tulsi plant is outside, no disease or disease can enter the house. With Tulsi Archana, diseases, sorrows of the house are removed as well as Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha are also attained.

It is noteworthy that in Indian culture, the method of calculating time is based on the motion of the moon, as opposed to being influenced by the speed of the solar prevailing in western countries. It is noteworthy that the Moon is a celestial body located closest to the Earth, so the ancient Indians considered it to be the most subtle means of calculating time and composed twelve months based on its motion. It is a mythological belief that in the month of Kartik, all the needs of man, such as good health, family progress, God’s grace, etc., get spiritually resolved very easily.

In the month of Kartik, especially non-vegetarian food is completely discarded. In an article quoted in Shridatta’s Samaypradip page 46 and Kriyaratnakar page 397-399, it is mentioned that according to Mahabharata, by giving up meat-eating in the month of Kartik, especially in the Shukla Paksha, its virtue becomes equal to austerity for a hundred years. It is believed that all the great kings of India, Yayati, Ram and Nal etc. did not eat meat in the month of Kartik. For this reason he attained heaven. According to Narada Purana, later 21-58 and Bakpanchak, a meat eater becomes a Chandala in the month of Kartik. Pulses should not be consumed in Kartik month. In this month, normal light food is said to be good.

The description of the greatness of Kartik month, more sacred than all pilgrimages and religious activities, is available in the ninth chapter of Vaishnava section of Skanda Purana, Narada Purana (Uttaradh) Adhyay 22 and Padma Purana 4/92. Taking a bath in a river or lake outside the house and chanting the Gayatri Mantra during the entire Kartika month is considered auspicious only once. According to the fast, by the conduct of this fast, one becomes free from all the sins of the year. In the mythological texts, there has been great praise for lighting lamps and lighting in the temples of Shiva, Chandi, Surya and other gods in the month of Kartik. According to Tititattva 147, worshiping Lord Keshav with flowers of Muni (Agastya) in the entire month of Kartik gives the virtue of Ashwamedha Yagya. Kartik Purnima, the last date of autumn, is considered very pious and virtuous. Fairs are organized at many places on this occasion. Rasleela takes place. On this date no one should stay without bath and charity. Donations should also be given to Brahmins, poor relatives, sisters, sons of sisters, sons of father’s sisters, uncles etc. According to Hemadri, Vratkhand, 1.605, Vratkalavivek, page 24, Kartikeya Vrat is performed on the sixth day of Kartikeya, the fast of Swami Kartikeya.

Kartik month, also known as Damodar month, is a very holy month. In Skanda Purana, Kartik is said to be the best of all the months. Kartik month is also known as Damodar month. In ancient Indian texts, it has been said that when the aspirations of human beings who worship God with any hope are fulfilled by the divine grace and they do not decay, then it has been said that man will attain salvation. This is the real state of salvation. In the month of Kartik there are wide possibilities of attaining everything by worshiping God. In this month, along with the provision of worship of Lord Dhanvantari for attaining health and the spiritual arrangement to satisfy Yama and attain full life, there is also a way to attain prosperity by pleasing Goddess Lakshmi on Kartik Amavasya. On the Ekadashi of this month, even the gods who have slept for the last four months are awakened and give the eternal fruits of all the previous worships. According to mythological belief, by worshiping Lord Shri Vishnu in Kartik and singing his auspicious song, he wakes up from yoga sleep of four months. As soon as Lord Vishnu, the all-beneficent god, awakens, the way for the solution of all problems is opened.

In this month, the power of every household, that is, Lakshmi Swaroopa women, by lighting a lamp of God by praising the Lord, opens the door for the progress and harmony of the whole family. Dhanteras, the incarnation day of Dhanvantari just before the awakening of God, Yama lamp donation dedicated to Yama, Naraka Chaudas symbolizing Krishna’s victory and Lakshmi worship day is the mythological tradition of celebrating Deepawali. The Matsya incarnation of Lord Vishnu took place on the day of Kartik Purnima having special spiritual significance. It is noteworthy that like a fish moving in water, Lord Shri Vishnu took this form only to give flexibility to man and to inspire himself not to get distracted in adverse situations.

Lord Shiva killed the demon Tripurari on the full moon day of Kartik month and was called Tripurari. The killing of Tripura by Mahadev is a sign that efforts should always be made to destroy the lust, anger and greed arising from the three doshas of man – Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Thirty days of Kartik month inspire man to strengthen himself by worshiping the deity. Lord Vishnu is pleased by following five practices having special significance for worshiping the deity in Kartik month and the possibilities of real progress in life are strong. . Describing the importance of sleeping in this month, it has been said in ancient texts that by sleeping on the ground, a person becomes free from the tendency to live in luxury for a few days. It provides health benefits and also removes physical and mental disorders.
