Jharkhand High Court seeks details of Chief Minister and brother’s assets from ED

Ranchi. The Jharkhand High Court has issued notices to the ED (Enforcement Directorate) and Registrar of Companies (ROC) seeking a report within two weeks regarding the properties of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his younger brother MLA Basant Soren and their close friends.

A division bench of Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Justice Dr. Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad has sought a report within 2 weeks from the ED on their role in the company involving both the brothers along with their close associates, besides Hemant Soren and Basant Soren from RoC. The details of the companies involved have been asked to be given.

The High Court gave this order on Friday while hearing the petition of Shiv Shankar Sharma. The details of 28 companies were presented in the court on behalf of the petitioner’s advocate Rajiv Kumar, in which the participation of the Soren brothers has been claimed. It has been alleged on behalf of the petitioner that both the brothers have acquired illegal assets by forming shell companies, therefore, the entire matter should be investigated by CBI, ED and Income Tax. On behalf of the defense, the Additional Advocate General presented his side online from Kolkata and he called all the allegations baseless.
