Jaffer Predicts India Squad For ODI WC; Picks Dhawan As Opener

FORMER India cricketer Wasim Jaffer picked India’s players who would likely be the part of Indian squad in the upcoming ODI World Cup which will start from October 5.

The former India batsman picked Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Shikhar Dhawan as the openers for the tournament. The further stated that even though Shikhar Dhawan is not going to be picked, he will keep him as the backup opener.

“My three openers will be Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan. Even though Shikhar Dhawan is not going to be picked, I will keep him as the backup opener. Even if he doesn’t play at the start, I am okay with that.”

Jaffer also opened up about number three, four and five spots, the batter reckoned that Virat Kohli at no. 3, Shreyas Iyer at No. 4, KL Rahul at No. 5 and Hardik Pandya at no. 6.

The batsman dropped Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal and picked Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav as the spinners for his playing XI in the tournament.

However, team India is currently in West Indies playing the second Test match and after that the side will play 3 ODIs followed by 5 T20Is against the same opponent.

After the jam packed schedule against WI, team India will face Realnd for the 5 match T20I series.
