Ravichandran Ashwin took 4 wickets in the second innings for India, while Axar Patel got 3, Jasprit Bumrah got 3 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah took 5 wickets in the first innings.

India had scored 252 runs in the first innings, on this ground the turn was being seen from day one. This was the reason that Team India continued to get setbacks, Shreyas Iyer proved to be the biggest star for India in the first innings. Shreyas Iyer scored 92 runs, followed by Rishabh Pant with 39 runs to become the highest scorer.

In reply, Sri Lanka were bundled out for 109 runs. On the basis of which India got a lead of 143 runs. India showed a great game in the second innings. India declared their second innings on 303 runs. Sri Lanka set a target of 447 runs to win.
