10 bodies buried in Mizoram mine accident recovered, rescue operation underway

New Delhi. A stone quarry collapsed on a hill slope in Mizoram’s Hanthial district on Monday. The death toll in this accident has reached 10 till late night. At the same time, the search for the remaining 2 laborers is still going on. BSF jawans are running the rescue operation for the third day as well. BSF has given this information.

The BSF said that at 2.40 am on Monday, a massive landslide occurred following an explosion in a stone quarry at Maudrah, about 35 km from Lunglei. Many people got buried in this accident. The Mizoram Police then sought assistance from the Border Security Force (BSF). BSF started the rescue operation from Monday itself.

According to the information, 10 dead bodies have been removed so far during the rescue operation. Two bodies were recovered on Tuesday with the help of BSF sniffer dogs. At the same time, efforts are on to rescue two more missing laborers with the help of BSF and NDRF teams.
It is being told that this is a big stone quarry. 12 laborers engaged in mining were trapped there. Due to the sudden accident, the laborers present there did not even get a chance to run away. Most of the laborers are being told from Bihar.
