Four members of banned PFI arrested in Delhi

New Delhi. The Delhi Police has arrested four people allegedly associated with the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Officials gave this information on Tuesday.

This is the first case of arrest of PFI members in the national capital after the central government had banned the PFI on September 28. Earlier, the Delhi Police had arrested 33 people allegedly linked to the group after raiding units of PFI spread across six districts of the city.

A senior police officer confirmed that four members of the illegal organization have been arrested in a case registered under the UAPA at Shaheen Bagh police station in South-East district.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (PRO) Suman Nalwa said that after receiving some information against the banned organization PFI and other organizations associated with it, sections 120B, 153A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and illegal activities were registered at Shaheen Bagh Police Station. A case was registered under section 10 of the (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
He said that during interrogation four accused Mohammad Shoaib, Habib Asghar Jamali, Abdul Raab and Warish have been arrested.

It is noteworthy that the central government on September 28 banned PFI and its affiliate organizations – Rehab India Foundation (RIF), All India Imam Council (AIIC), National Confederation of Human Rights Organization (NCHRO) and others, citing alleged terrorist activities. was put.
