Former India Selector Wants Virat Kohli To Lead Team Again

Former India selector MSK Prasad reckoned Virat Kohli will have to lead the team India instead of current captain Rohit Sharma. Referring to Ajinkya Rahane again appointed as the vice-captain after his heroics in recently concluded World Test Championship final which was played earlier this year.

Kohli left the T20I captaincy after India’s humiliating loss in T20 World Cup which was held in 2021 and was reportedly sacked as ODI captain after India lost the series to South Africa early last year, Rohit was named full-time captain.

“I don’t know if I can answer this question. I don’t know the mindset of the selectors. Usually, the mindset of the selectors should be now with the WTC cycle it should be a clear cycle, that’s how the mindset should be,” Prasad told Khelnow.

MSK reckoned that Kohli is an option if the selectors are thinking beyond Rohit Sharma.

“Why not Virat Kohli? When Ajinkya Rahane can come back and become the vice-captain, then why not Virat Kohli? I don’t know what the mindset of Virat is on captaincy. In case selectors are thinking beyond Rohit, I don’t know whether they are thinking but if they are thinking beyond Rohit, then I think Virat can also be an option.”

Team India is currently in West Indies preparing for the 2 Test match series which will start from July 12. After Test series team India will play 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is.
