Fire breaks out in Pune private bus, passengers safe

Pune (Maharashtra). A bus caught fire in Maharashtra’s Pune district on Wednesday, but 27 passengers on the bus narrowly escaped unhurt. Police gave this information. He said that the incident took place at around 6.30 am on Bhimashankar Marg in Ambegaon tehsil. 27 passengers had boarded the private bus from a village in Bhiwandi near Mumbai and the bus was on its way to Bhimashankar in Pune district which is a religious place famous for a temple.

Assistant Inspector Jeevan Mane of Ghodegaon police station said that when the bus reached Shindewadi on Bhimashankar Ghodegaon Marg, the driver of another vehicle told the bus driver that smoke was rising from the vehicle. He said that the driver immediately stopped the bus and all the passengers got down from the bus. A passenger called the police control room, the officer said. Efforts were made to douse the fire but the vehicle was destroyed in the fire. The belongings of the passengers were also destroyed in the fire. However, there were no casualties in the incident, he said. He said that prima facie it appears that the fire started due to short circuit. (Language)
