ED interrogates Mamta didi’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee, reaches office to appear

New Delhi | ED Interrogate Abhishek Banerjee: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s nephew and MP Abhishek Banerjee today appeared before the ED for questioning in a money laundering case related to the alleged coal scam. The ED has registered a case under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act on the basis of an FIR registered by the CBI alleging multi-crore coal scam related to the mines of Eastern Coalfields Limited in Asansol, Kunustoria and Kajora areas.

wife will be questioned tomorrow
ED Interrogate Abhishek Banerjee: Abhishek Banerjee and his wife were summoned by the ED regarding the coal scam in West Bengal, after which Abhishek Banerjee reached the ED’s office today. The ED will now also question his wife Rujira Banerjee on March 22.

ED’s summons were challenged in court
ED Interrogate Abhishek Banerjee: Significantly, earlier the ED had issued summons to the couple on September 10 last year, after which the court was requested by Abhishek Banerjee to direct the ED to appear in Delhi. Summons should not be issued to them, as they are residents of West Bengal. In this case, the Delhi High Court had on March 11 dismissed the petition challenging the summons issued to him to appear before the directorate.
