Bali. Describing the ‘digital revolution’ as the most remarkable change of this era, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the proper use of ‘digital technology’ has proved to be very effective in the decades-long global fight against poverty.

On the occasion of handing over the chairmanship of the group to India at the G20 summit, Prime Minister Modi said, “The proper use of ‘digital technology’ can prove to be very effective in the global fight against poverty going on for decades.” He said that digital solutions can prove to be helpful in combating climate change. He said, ‘We found digital technology very effective during the global pandemic to facilitate work from home and make offices paperless.’

The Prime Minister said that access to digital media is being ensured in India, but internationally the digital divide is still very deep. Modi said, India has experienced in the last few years that if we make digital infrastructure inclusive, it can lead to socio-economic changes. He said that the principle of ‘Data for Development’ will be an integral part of India’s G20 chairmanship theme ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’. Modi also said that it is the responsibility of the G-20 leaders to ensure that the benefits of the ‘digital revolution’ are not limited to a few.
