Demand for merger of border villages with other states is not in the interest of Maharashtra: Athawale

Thane. Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has said that seeking merger of some border villages of Maharashtra with other neighboring states including Karnataka is not in the interest of the state. He said that the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government should ensure that these villages remain a part of the state and their residents get all facilities.

On the sidelines of a program in Kalyan in Thane district on Friday, Athawale told reporters that he would soon meet Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to discuss the border dispute. The Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment said, “The border dispute is not new as it existed before the formation of the state.

However, now it has come to the point that some villages on the border of Maharashtra want to separate from the state. It is not in the interest of the state. It is not only the people of villages in Maharashtra bordering Karnataka who are dissatisfied, but also those in villages near the borders of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat who want to merge with the neighboring states, he said. Huh.

Athawale said the Maharashtra government led by Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis should resolve the issue. “The border issue is currently sub judice. But the state government should ensure that these border villages get all the facilities. He should ensure that these villages remain a part of the state. I will meet Shinde and Fadnavis soon to discuss the issue.
