Daughters becoming the choice of adopters in Bihar

Patna In many homes, couples are seen feeling disheartened at the birth of a girl child, but the number of daughters adopted by childless couples from the Adoption Resource Center in Bihar is high. It is generally seen that the number of girls is more among the rejected children, but the statistics of the Adoption Agency show that the number of adopters of those girls is also not less. By the way, statistics also show that now due to awareness among the people there has been an increase in the number of adoptive couples. Now people are also welcoming children into their lives with open hearts. In the capital Patna, there has been an increase in the interest of people to adopt children in the State Government-run Specialized Adoption Institute.

Till five-six years ago, there was not much interest in adopting children but now this number has increased. According to the District Child Protection Unit, 80 children have been legally adopted since 2019 in Patna alone. Out of these 80 children, 13 children are playing in the courtyard of foreign countries. According to the officials of the Protection Unit, there has been an increase in the interest of people in adoption due to the easy and transparent process of child adoption. The process of adopting children is different for the people of the country and the people of the foreign country. Foreign couples have to apply to the Central Adoption Institute Authority to adopt an Indian child. If we look at the data of District Child Protection Unit, a total of 23 children were adopted in the year 2019 which included 9 boys and 14 girls. Out of these, 16 children were adopted by couples in their own country while 7 were adopted by foreign couples.

In the year 2020, 22 children were adopted, out of which 5 were boys and 17 were girls. Of these, 13 were adopted by domestic couples while two were adopted by foreign couples. Similarly, 11 children have been adopted so far in 2022, which includes 5 boys and 6 girls. Uday Kumar, assistant director of the District Child Protection Unit, also believes that the abandoned laps are turning green due to the increasing interest in adoption. He said that awareness has increased among the people and rules have become easy and transparent. Here, sociologist Vivek Kumar says that in today’s life of race, everyone is busy and everyone is busy in fulfilling all their facilities first. He said that people now want to be in a live-in relationship instead of getting married, due to which people do not want to bear the responsibility of producing a child. Due to this the tradition of adoption has increased. (IANS)
