Cyclone ‘Sitrang’ fury on Diwali, torrential rains in Assam, tea gardens blown up, houses

Nagaon | Cyclone Sitrang: The warning given by the Meteorological Department regarding the arrival of cyclonic storm on Diwali has proved to be correct. Due to the effect of cyclonic storm ‘Sitrang’ in the Bay of Bengal, there has been heavy damage in many states of the country. Cyclone ‘Sitrang’ has created a furore in the coastal states of the country. Due to which many houses have been damaged and trees have been uprooted due to heavy rains and thunderstorms in Nagaon district of Assam.

Tea gardens, houses destroyed everything
According to the information, cyclonic storm ‘Sitrang’ has caused huge destruction in Assam. Due to the effect of cyclone here, it rained heavily in Kaliabor, Bamuni, Sakmuthia of Nagaon and strong winds also uprooted tea gardens, many trees, electric poles and power lines were broken in many areas of the district. Many houses have also been destroyed, however, so far fortunately, no casualty has been reported in the storm. Whereas, 11 people have died in Bangladesh due to Cyclone Sitarang.

The storm stopped many flights and trains
Due to the effect of cyclonic storm, heavy torrential rains in Assam on Diwali have led to water-logging in many parts of Guwahati. Not only this, due to the cyclonic storm, the speed of many flights and trains have also been stopped in the northeastern states. Railways are on high alert to deal with any incident during this period.

Now ‘Sitrang’ is weakening
According to the Meteorological Department, the cyclonic storm Sitarang has now weakened in the northeast near Agartala and Shillong. Earlier, as a precaution, thousands of people were evacuated from low-lying areas of West Bengal and more than 100 relief centers have been opened.
