At the same time, onions kept in storage are also getting spoiled due to rain, due to which the prices of onions are also increasing.

Onion price rising rapidly in metros
Talking about the metros, the prices of onions are increasing in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. At present, if we talk about the retail onion prices, it is at a price of Rs 50 to 60 per kg. Giving information, a seller of onions said that the produce of the new cultivar of onion will come in the market by the third and fourth week, but before that, the chances of the prices falling seems very less.

Tomato spear reached Rs 100 a kg
Apart from this, if we talk about the prices of tomatoes, the price of tomatoes has reached around Rs 100 per kg. The tomato crop has suffered a lot due to the rains and the demand is also seeing a spurt during the festive season. Talking about the prices of tomatoes, at this time there can be a decline only after 15-20 days.

Onion demand is fulfilled by these states 75 percent
Jayachandra Muthayla, director of Jayachandra Foods, Nashik, said that Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh have the highest production of onions in the country. About 75 percent of the onion crop is fulfilled from these states. Apart from this, the potato crop has also suffered a lot due to rains in West Bengal, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.

Price of potato and rice also increased
Due to the damage caused to the potato crop, the pressure on cold storage has increased significantly. At present, the price of potato has increased by 60 percent in the wholesale market. At the same time, the rains have also damaged the Kharif crop, due to which the price of rice has increased by about 10 to 15 percent.
