Commonwealth Games 2022: Wrestler punches referee during wrestling trials, federation banned for life

These days wrestling trials for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 are being organized in the capital New Delhi. Male wrestlers were placing their bets in the trials organized by the Wrestling Federation of India at the Indira Gandhi Stadium on Tuesday, but during this a situation arose, which left everyone stunned. Wrestler Satender Malik, presenting his claim in the 125 kg category in these trials, punched a senior referee after losing the match. Due to this action of the wrestler, the wrestling federation immediately took strict action and banned Satender for life.

According to the information, on Tuesday, May 17, wrestler Satender Malik, playing for Services, attacked referee Jagbir Singh after losing the final. The Indian Air Force wrestler was leading 3-0 18 seconds before the end of the final but rival wrestler Mohit pushed him off the mat after a take-down. Due to this Mohit was to get 3 points, but referee Virendra Malik did not give Mohit two points of take down and due to this the angry wrestler challenged the decision.

Let us tell you that all this drama happened in front of the eyes of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, President of Wrestling Federation of India, who was keeping an eye on the trials himself. After this ruckus, Federation officials sent Satender out of the hall and resumed the 57 kg match. On the other hand Jagbir Singh, who was a top-level referee since 2013, was shocked by this incident.
