Breast and Curvical Cancer: Breast and cervical cancer awareness program was organized by Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) in the capital on Sunday. Let us tell you that throughout the month of October, SGPGI worked to spread awareness about these two diseases among the people through various activities.

‘Women should be conscious of their health’

A cycle rally was organized for public awareness on early diagnosis and treatment of breast and cervical cancer in association with SGPGI and a cycling group named Padalyatri. About 80 cyclists reached the Raj Bhavan carrying pink balloons on their cycles. Where Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel encouraged all the participants with her presence. Addressing the gathering present there, the Governor said that “Women have to be self-conscious about their health. They have to give up the long-standing tendency of neglecting their health. While doing service to every member of the family. They forget about their health. This is very important because women are the backbone of any family and a healthy family makes a healthy society.”

Governor flagged off cycle rally

The Governor flagged off the cycle rally. The group’s director Rajesh Kumar Verma, deputy director Vaibhav Rastogi, secretary Anand Pandey and Sanjay Gandhi PGI’s cardiologist Dr Sudeep Kumar were among the participants of the cycle rally. It was the specialty of this rally that women cyclists showed special enthusiasm in it. This rally reached Rumi Darwaza. Where the women themselves took the oath of trial. This cycle rally ended after reaching the hobby center of PGI.

‘Walkathon’ organized in PGI

Meanwhile, a walkathon was also organized at the Hobby Center of Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences. Which was flagged off by the Director of the Institute, Professor RK Dhiman, Dr. Praveena Dhiman, Professor Gaurav Agarwal and members of the Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness and Early Diagnosis Team. In which the doctors, students, nursing and technical cadre of the institute’s family actively participated. More than 150 members participated in this walkathon. Pink caps and pink T-shirts were provided to all the participants. Pink color indicates cancer awareness. The participants walked around 6 kms of the campus carrying banners of breast and cervical cancer awareness and early diagnosis. The walkathon ended at the hobby center and in the meantime 80 cycle rally participants from Raj Bhavan also reached the hobby center. Souvenirs were presented to the enthusiastic cycle rally participants and walkathon participants.

On this occasion, the convener of Breast Health Program and Chief Medical Superintendent of Sanjay Gandhi PGI, Professor Gaurav Agarwal, Tehsildar Rajesh Vishwakarma, ADO Pradeep Kumar, Medical Superintendent of Mohanlalganj Community Health Center Dr. Jyoti Kamle were also present. About 100 community health workers participated in this training programme.
