Katihar. In the Hasanganj police station area of Katihar district of Bihar, a youth was brutally beaten up for allegedly raping a minor, in which he died.
A police officer said on Thursday that the victim’s family members and 28-year-old Mohammad Sagir were caught from the villager’s nearby, accusing them of raping an 11-year-old minor in the market adjacent to Hasanganj. After this it is alleged that the mob tied the accused to a tree and started beating him fiercely with sticks.
It is said that the mob thrashed him till his condition became critical. After this, when the police came to know about this, the police also reached the spot and took out Sagir from the clutches of the people and took him to the local hospital for treatment, where the accused died. Sagir is accused of seducing the girl from her neighborhood late at night, taking her to a secluded place some distance from the market and then raping her.
Hasanganj station in-charge Ramchandra Mandal said that separate written applications have been received from both the parties, on the basis of which FIR is being registered. The people of the minor victim’s house have fled with the victim. An FIR of rape is being registered on the written statement of the mother to the victim. Police is probing the whole matter.
