Azam Khan sentenced to three years

Lucknow, The troubles of senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan have increased. A court in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur has sentenced Azam Khan to three years’ imprisonment after finding him guilty in the hate speech case. Along with this, a fine of Rs 25,000 has also been imposed on him. On Thursday, the court convicted Azam Khan and then announced the verdict in the afternoon and sentenced him to three years in prison.

With this decision, Azam Khan’s difficulties will increase because he may lose his membership of the assembly and he may be barred from contesting elections for six years. It is worth noting that during the election in 2019, Azam Khan had given a speech in Tehsil Milak, for which a complaint was lodged against him for giving inflammatory speech. The court’s decision has come in the same case. Azam Khan was released from jail a few days ago and more than 80 cases are pending against him. His health is also not good.

However, on 7 April 2019, Mohammad Azam Khan, the joint candidate of Rampur’s Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party, while giving a speech in his election meeting, made many serious allegations against several administrative officials posted in Rampur and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Taking cognizance of his speech, the Election Commission took action and an FIR was lodged by the in-charge of the Election Commission’s video team. The decision in this matter came on Thursday. A case was registered against Azam Khan in serious cases like making inflammatory speeches and spreading hatred.
