DUTA strikes for retraining of ad-hoc teachers

New Delhi. The teachers of Delhi University went on strike on Monday to demand the reinstatement of the removed ad-hoc teachers. The strike was called by the Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA). The DUTA executive member said the strike was organized amid reports of “removal” of ad-hoc teachers from Deshbandhu, Ramjas and Laxmibai colleges as well as commerce and psychology departments.

The DUTA member said that all the teachers of Delhi University boycotted the classes. It was a complete strike. DUTA had called for a strike to protest the removal of ad-hoc teachers. Recently, the DUTA Executive Committee held a meeting and said that the in-service teachers have been removed after interviews conducted in various colleges and departments.

DUTA, in a statement on September 30, said that in-service teachers in DU have been displaced in DBC (Deshbandhu), Ramjas and Laxmibai colleges as well as commerce and psychology departments. The statement said that DUTA condemns such displacement and requests the college administration to review it as it is a matter of livelihood of those who have served in the institute.

DUTA has demanded that the posts created before 2019 and filled through ad-hoc arrangement should not be reserved for economically weaker section. (Language)
