Ashwin said, ‘Delhi Capitals will not retain me and Shreyas Iyer’

IPL 2022: Delhi Capitals spinner R Ashwin has made a big disclosure during the interview. He has said that Delhi Capitals will not retain him and Shreyas Iyer. Along with this, Ashwin also named the players who are more likely to be retained.

Under the retention policy of BCCI, a franchise can retain a maximum of 4 players. The prices for each retention are set individually and they are very high. In such a situation, the franchise teams will retain at least the players. While stating this as the basis, Ashwin has said that he himself will not be retained.

Ashwin has said, ‘Delhi team can retain three players. With many experienced and talented players in the team, it will not be easy for the franchise to choose three players. As far as I am concerned, if I had to be retained, I would have known by now.

Ashwin also ruled out the possibility of Shreyas Iyer being retained and said that he too is not aware of his retention till now. In such a situation, I think Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw and Anrich Norte are more likely to be retained. Before Delhi Capitals in IPL, Ashwin has also played for Chennai Super Kings, Pune, Kings XI Punjab. So far Ashwin has played a total of 167 matches in the IPL. He has 145 wickets to his name.
