AAP MLA’s brother-in-law, three arrested for selling Delhi MCD election tickets

New Delhi. The Anti-Corruption Bureau has arrested one of AAP MLA Akhilesh Pati Tripathi for allegedly selling a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) ticket for Kamla Nagar ward (number 69) for Rs 90 lakh. Three people including a relative have been arrested.

The arrested have been identified as AAP MLA Tripathi’s brother-in-law Om Singh and Tripathi’s PA Shiv Shankar Pandey alias Vishal Pandey and Prince Raghuvanshi. He has been arrested under Section 7/13 of the POC Act and Section 171(A) of the IPC.

DCP ACB Madhur Verma said, Shobha Khari, wife of complainant Gopal Khari, had demanded a corporator ticket from Aam Aadmi Party. Shobha alleges that MLA Akhilesh Pati Tripathi had demanded Rs 90 lakh in exchange for getting the ticket. He had given Rs 35 lakh to Tripathi and Rs 20 lakh to Wazirpur MLA Rajesh Gupta as bribe.

Shobha further told that the remaining 35 lakh rupees were to be given after getting the ticket, but when Shobha talked about returning the money in the list and complained about it to ACB and also the video recorded while giving bribe was also submitted to ACB as evidence. Handed over as

After receiving the complaint, the ACB constituted a team of its top officers to nab the accused. On the intervening night of November 15 and 16, the ACB team laid a trap at Khari’s residence, where accused Singh and his associates Pandey and Raghuvanshi caught them red-handed in the presence of witnesses when they came to return the bribe amount. The bribe amount of Rs 33 lakh has been seized, the official said. Further investigation of the matter is on.
