Another Punjab Congress minister arrested

The Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab is engaged in a campaign to completely eliminate its main rival, the Congress Party. After the formation of the government in March, the Vigilance Bureau of the state government has arrested three former Congress ministers on corruption charges in the last seven months. Apart from these, the sword is hanging on many more former ministers, MLAs and former MPs. According to sources in the AAP, his motive is to defame the Congress. This campaign against the Congress will go on till the next Lok Sabha elections as the Congress has eight out of 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state, while the Aam Aadmi Party does not have a single seat. Its seats will increase only if Congress loses. Therefore, the entire target of the government is on the Congress.

The Aam Aadmi Party government has also got some luck as the party’s state president and big leader Navjot Singh Sidhu went to jail just a few days after the Congress lost the elections in the assembly. He was sentenced to one year by the Supreme Court by reopening the decades-old and expired case. However, after the formation of the AAP government in the state, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot was first arrested in June. He was the Forest Minister in the Congress government led by Captain Amarinder Singh and is accused of taking commission in felling of trees. After that Bharat Bhushan Ashu was arrested in August. He was the Minister of Food and Civil Supplies in the Captain Government. Captain and later Deputy Chief Minister in Charanjit Singh Channi government Sukhjinder Randhawa has been accused of helping gangster Mukhtar Ansari, which is under investigation.
