New Delhi. The government is trying to provide basic facilities to the people sitting at home. In this direction, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has made available 58 citizen related services like driving license, vehicle registration and transfer of ownership online through Aadhaar verification. However, Aadhaar verification will be voluntary.
The ministry said that by making such services available in a contactless manner without visiting the government office, the citizens will save valuable time and their compliance burden will also be reduced. Apart from this, the number of people going to the Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) will also come down, which will increase the effectiveness of the work.
Online services for which citizens can voluntarily get Aadhaar verification done include services such as learner’s license, copy of driving license and renewal of driving license without the need to show driving. The ministry issued a notification in this regard on September 16. A person who does not have an Aadhaar number can directly avail the services by showing some other identity proof. (Language)
