21 people still missing in Uttarkashi avalanche!

Dehradun. On Tuesday, 29 climbers of the Nehru Mountaineering Institute were trapped in an avalanche on Draupadi’s Danda peak in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district. Rescue operation has been started to save them. This information was provided by officers.

Uttarkashi Disaster Management Officer Devendra Patwal said that eight climbers were rescued by his team members and efforts are on to rescue the rest. He said the team comprises trainee climbers and their trainers from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM). Draupadi’s Danda is situated at an altitude of 5,006 meters.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami tweeted that a team of mountaineers from National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police and Nehru Mountaineering Institute have started the rescue operation.

Chief Minister Dhami has also spoken to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and sought the help of the Army to expedite the rescue operation.
