Peruvian Prime Minister Anibal Torres’ resignation accepted
Lima. Peruvian President Pedro Castillo has accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Anibal Torres after he refused a vote of confidence. Castillo thanked Torres for his work in a national television broadcast and said he would reshuffle his cabinet in the coming days.
Last week, Torres asked the opposition-controlled Congress to hold a vote of confidence, but Congress rejected it, saying the conditions for the vote had not been met.
It is noteworthy that Castillo assumed the office of Prime Minister on July 2021 but announced his resignation on August 3 for ‘personal reasons’, which was rejected by the President.
