Koshyari asked for Central Force!
Mumbai In an unprecedented development, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has called for central security forces to maintain law and order in the state. The Governor has written a letter to the Union Home Secretary asking that the central forces be kept ready. They will be deployed if the law and order situation in the state deteriorates. It is also being said that additional central forces have also reached the base camp at Taloja in Navi Mumbai. A BJP leader says that if the rebel Shiv Sena MLAs return to Mumbai, their security will be given to the central forces.
On one hand, BJP leaders are calling the revolt of Shiv Sena MLAs an internal development of Shiv Sena and on the other hand the Governor is demanding central security forces in a political development. This is probably happening for the first time, when the need for deployment of central forces is being told in political developments and preparations are being made for it. However, Governor Koshyari had written a letter demanding central security forces on June 25, when he was also admitted to the hospital.
In a letter to Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Governor Koshyari has also written that he had directed the state police to provide adequate security to the MLAs but the police remained a mute spectator. Earlier, nine MLAs had said that their security has been withdrawn and their family members are in danger. After that the central government has provided security of central security forces to the families of these MLAs. Keep in mind that for the last two-three days, the offices of many MLAs have been attacked and their posters etc. have been torn. However, there has been no incident of attack on any MLA’s house or his family members.
In fact, many MLAs who rebelled against the Shiv Sena are said to be in touch with their party and may return to the Shiv Sena camp after returning to Mumbai. If their security was handed over to the state police, it would be easy for the Shiv Sena to approach them and bring them back with them. Possibly for this reason, preparations are being made to keep the rebel MLAs under the care of the central security forces under the pretext of law and order. A BJP leader said the rebel Shiv Sena MLAs would be taken from the airport to the Raj Bhavan under the supervision of central forces when they return to Mumbai.
