Two judges object to the appointment process of 4 new judges in the Supreme Court, CJI seeks consent
The names of Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Ravi Shankar Jha, Patna High Court Chief Justice Sanjay Karol, Manipur High Court Chief Justice PV Sanjay Kumar and senior advocate KV Vishwanathan have been proposed.

Regarding the judges to be appointed under the collegium process in the Supreme Court Supreme Court Two judges have raised objections. Out of five judges of the Supreme Court Collegium, these two judges have opposed the written resolution, which talked about the appointment of four new judges. In such a situation, Chief Justice of India UU Lalit has written a letter demanding everyone to reconsider their stand.
Both the opposing judges are adamant that the collegium meeting held through circulation instead of face-to-face talks is unheard of and they cannot be in favor of it. According to the Indian Express report, sources have said that both the judges had made their stand clear in this regard by writing separate letters on October 1.
The names of these judges were proposed
CJI UU Lalit, who presides over the collegium, has already written a letter on October 1 to four other members Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice SK Kaul, Justice Abdul Nazeer and Justice KM Joseph, Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Ravi Shankar Jha, Chief of Patna High Court. Justice Sanjay Karol, Manipur High Court Chief Justice PV Sanjay Kumar and senior advocate KV Viswanathan had sought consent in relation to the appointment of judges in the Supreme Court.
Collegium meeting could not be held
The CJI wrote this letter when the proposed meeting of the collegium members to be held on September 30 could not take place. On that day, Justice DY Chandrachud, a member of the collegium, ran the court till late in the evening. Due to this he could not be present for the meeting. Before the Dussehra holidays, September 30 was the last working day of the Supreme Court. On that day, the bench of Justice DY Chandrachud had closed the proceedings of the court only after completing the hearing of all the cases listed.
According to a media report, Justice UU Lalit has written a letter to his fellow judges, seeking written consent from them for the appointment of four new judges. It has been informed, quoting sources, that apart from CJI U U Lalit, another collegium member has given his consent for the appointment of four judges to the Supreme Court. At the same time, both the opposing judges have asked for some more time for this.
