Sushil Modi files defamation case against Rahul Gandhi

Patna Former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday filed a criminal defamation case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in an MLA/MLC court here. Modi accused Rahul Gandhi for his election speech in Karnataka in 2019, where he said that all Modis are thieves.

Rahul Gandhi had said during a public meeting in Kolar district of Karnataka that PM Narendra Modi did demonetisation in the country and put the whole country in the queue of banks. In his speech, Gandhi said, he (Narendra Modi) has partially banned common people’s money to be withdrawn from banks and the common people’s money was given to 15 of his friends. Gandhi had said, there is a group of thieves. They have a team. They are taking money out of your pocket. Snatching money from farmers, small traders and giving it to those 15 friends. Claiming that it is a fight against black money. PM Narendra Modi made you stand in a queue of banks, took money from your pocket and deposited it in banks and then you came to know that your money has been taken by Nirav Modi, who fled the country with Rs 35,000 crore.

Apart from Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi and Lalit Modi, there is a long list of names. Now, I want to ask a small question. Why are all thieves named Modi? Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi, Narendra Modi and if we search more, we will find some more Modis. Based on Rahul Gandhi’s speech in Kolar on April 13, 2019, BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Modi said that it was a derogatory statement on people with the Modi surname.

Senior advocate and former Solicitor General of Bihar SD Sanjay said, Rahul Gandhi had said in a statement that all people with Modi surname are thieves. He (Sushil Modi) is also nicknamed Modi and as it is election time, his statement may impress voters. Hence, he has filed a criminal defamation case against Rahul Gandhi.

Sanjeev Chaurasia appeared in the court as a witness in the trial on behalf of Sushil Modi. Apart from them, Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin, Manish Kumar, BJYM Bihar President Senior Advocate SD Sanjay, Senior Advocate Subodh Jha, Advocate Arjun Kumar and Advocate Ratnesh Kumar appeared on behalf of Sushil Modi.
