Ranchi. Modeling girl named Jyoti Sharma has emerged as the kingpin of brown sugar and drugs business in Ranchi and surrounding areas. Ranchi Police has arrested five people associated with the racket including Jyoti and her mother Munni Devi.
Jyoti was earlier arrested with brown sugar in November last year as well. After coming out of jail on bail, he expanded this business again. Apart from the model and her mother, those arrested by the police include Arjun Sharma, Balram Sharma and Rahul Sharma. All of them have been caught in Sukhdev Nagar and Pandara areas of Ranchi. 36 grams of brown sugar and two lakh 90 thousand rupees in cash and some mobile phones have been recovered from them. During the interrogation of the police, Jyoti has told that this time his gang was using online methods to run the brown sugar supply network. There are many more people involved in the network, for whose arrest the police are raiding different places.
Brown sugar network spread in many states
Police investigation has revealed that brown sugar reaches Ranchi from Sasaram in Bihar and some cities of Orissa. Jyoti and her gang lure the college students and make them addicted to brown sugar and then supply them at a high price. Many such contacts have been found in Jyoti’s mobile, to whom she used to supply drugs. Jyoti is a resident of Swarnrekha located in Vidyanagar Colony of Ranchi.
Journey from modeling to brown sugar businessman
It was during modeling in many cities including Ranchi and Delhi that Jyoti came in contact with brown sugar suppliers. Then, in the greed of getting more profit immediately in this business, he prepared his own gang. His mother also joined him in this business. After going to jail last November, he also became friends with many such people who became his partners in this business. A few days after his release from prison, he again expanded the business. In November last, on the basis of clues from Jyoti’s arrest, the police had raided several places in Jharkhand. Then a young man named Gandhi in Ranchi and a woman named Rizwana in Palamu came under police custody. He had told the police that many women from Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro and Palamu were involved in this business. (IANS)
