Hundreds of students arrived in Ukraine to complete their studies amid the atmosphere of war

A few months ago, the Indian government brought back thousands of Indian students from Ukraine to India, launching the Operation Ganga Mega Mission amid the war between Russia and Ukraine. More than 20,000 students from India, who went to Ukraine to study medicine, had to leave Ukraine due to the war in the midst of the war atmosphere created by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. These students reached India through various European countries. But there was a question in his mind that what would happen to his future and medical studies after reaching India.

Students worried about their future in India

Hoping to become doctors, these students waited for months and approached the Indian government. Discussions were being held in the political corridors from the streets to the Parliament that the future of these students should not hang in the balance. But when they had no hope of getting transfer and admission in Indian medical colleges from anywhere, now these students started returning to Ukraine.

Dr. Mohan, a resident of Gorakhpur and Dr. Ravi Kumar, a resident of Gaya, studying at Vinitsa Medical College in Ukraine, said that we waited for months but did not get any response from the Indian government on how our study would proceed. Also, the National Medical Council did not want us to transfer or admit further. The biggest thing is that we do not have money to study in Indian private medical colleges because we come from poor family. Dr Mohan says that even today, alarm sirens are often sounded outside the university and food has become expensive due to the situation but we are here to worry about the future.

1500 students returned to Ukraine

Dr. Ravi says that Vinnytsia alone has more than 300 students, and if this number is added with the various medical colleges in Ukraine, it becomes around 1500. Both these students estimate that around 1500 Indian students have returned to Ukraine and are completing their studies in various medical colleges. Dr. Mohan says that he had a Ukrainian visa so he arrived in Ukraine from Moldova with a transit visa and is now attending his classes.

At the same time, the family members are also upset, the situation is bad but if we do this then the question of the future is? Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Ukraine has issued an advisory to all Indians asking them to leave Ukraine at the earliest in view of the situation. Both these students have said that now they will not return to India under any circumstances unless they have a doctor’s degree or the Indian government does not take any positive step.
