MP Navneet Rana and husband Ravi Rana jailed, bail plea will be heard on April 29
Mumbai: The ruckus that started after the announcement of Hanuman Chalisa recitation continues. MP Navneet Rana and her husband Ravi Rana were arrested by the police on Saturday. Today (Sunday) both were produced in Mumbai’s Bandra court. The court has ordered to send the Rana couple to judicial custody till May 6. However, the prosecution had sought police remand, which was rejected.
On the other hand, Rana couple’s lawyer Rizwan Merchant said that it is standing on a very weak basis in the case. There is no point in this.
There was a lot of arguments in the court. The public prosecutor said that there is also a case of sedition in this. The Rana couple did the work of instigating the Shiv Sainiks. Because of this law and order got disturbed. This is the reason why action has been taken under this section.
At the same time, the lawyer of the Rana couple said that such arrests cannot be made in this case. This is completely illegal. Also said that the case of sedition is very complicated, because when such a case is made, it requires deep thought. The defense said that many times the police impose such sections without any reason. After hearing the arguments of both the sides, the court gave its verdict.
