11.32 lakh crore earned from road-infra cess

new Delhi, With the prices of petrol and diesel once again crossing Rs 100 per liter, the central government has said that it has earned Rs 11.32 lakh crore in the last 10 years from road-infra cess on these two products. That is, about one lakh crore rupees have been earned every year from this cess alone. Keep in mind that about 45 percent of the price of petrol and diesel is taxed by the central and state governments.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that revenue of Rs 11.32 lakh crore has been raised in the last ten years through road and infra cess on petrol and diesel. This figure is for the period between 2010-11 to 2022-23. That is, about one lakh crore rupees were received from cess every year during this period. Sitharaman has also informed that between 2013-14 to 2022, revenue of Rs 3.77 lakh crore was collected from health and education cess.
