French Ambassador Lennon welcomed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent call to end the war. He said that the leaders of both India and France are trying to persuade Moscow to return to the negotiating table.
“We think Putin wants to return to the times of imperialism and we want to avoid it anywhere else in Europe, especially in the region I’m talking about,” he said. “Even in the Indo-Pacific region, we do not want this and I am sure India does not want any neighbor to aggressively encroach on the borders,” Lennon said. French Ambassador Lennon said about the Russian attack on Ukraine that it is very important that we stand with each other and protect international rules.

During the SCO summit in Uzbekistan, PM Modi had asked Putin to end the war soon. He said in front of Putin, ‘Today’s era is not of war.’
He said, ‘I think it is a very welcome comment as always and you have seen that the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, has mentioned and quoted Prime Minister Modi.’ “We need statements like these that call on Putin to stop this war and return to the negotiating table,” he said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed treaties on Friday to illegally annex parts of Ukraine to Russia. After this, tension increased in the war that continued for seven months.
