Congress in Madhya Pradesh, AAP showed strength
Bhopal. Congress and Aam Aadmi Party have shown strength in the elections to urban bodies in Madhya Pradesh. Congress has won the election of mayor in three cities after a long time, while the Aam Aadmi Party has made a bang in the politics of Madhya Pradesh by winning the election of mayor in one city. AAP won the mayor’s election in Singrauli city, where AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal held a roadshow during the election. In Chhindwara, the stronghold of former Chief Minister Kamal Nath, the Congress made a comeback and won the mayor’s election. The Congress has also registered victory in Jyotiraditya Scindia’s stronghold Gwalior. The BJP has won seven out of 11 cities.
In Chhindwara, Congress candidate Vikram Ahake defeated BJP’s Anant Dhurve by 3,547 votes. Kamal Nath’s son Nakul Nath is the MP from this seat and he had tried his best to win this seat. Apart from this, Congress has registered victories in Gwalior and Jabalpur. In both these cities, Congress has won after a long time. In Burhanpur, the Congress party lost to Asaduddin Owaisi’s party MIM. In this city, Congress’s Shahnaz Bano lost for Mayor by just 542 votes, while MIM candidate got more than 10 thousand votes.
In the mayoral election of Singrauli, Aam Aadmi Party candidate Rani Agarwal won by more than 93 hundred votes. He defeated BJP candidate Chandra Pratap Vishwakarma. During the election, Kejriwal did a road show. With this victory, AAP has entered the politics of Madhya Pradesh. Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal congratulated the party workers on this victory.
The BJP has won mayoral elections in seven cities, including the seat of the capital Bhopal. In Bhopal, Malti Rai of BJP defeated Vibha Patel of Congress by a huge margin. BJP’s biggest victory was in Indore, where its candidate Pushyamitra Bhargava defeated Sanjay Shukla of Congress by more than one lakh 32 thousand votes. Apart from these two big cities, BJP registered victories in Khandwa, Sagar, Ujjain and Satna.
