Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne became the number one batsman in ICC Test Ranking

ICC Test Ranking: Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne, who scored a century in the first innings and half-century in the second innings of the second Test of the Ashes series against England, has become the world’s number one batsman in Test cricket. He has achieved this feat in just 20 Tests. Earlier, Labuschagne had performed well in the first Test of the Ashes series as well. Labuschagne has so far scored 228 runs in two Tests of Ashes.

Marnus Labuschagne has surpassed England captain Joe Root (897) to top the rankings for Test cricket batsmen with a career-best 912 ratings points. Before the start of the Ashes series, fourth-ranked Labuschagne had scored 74 runs in Australia’s win in the Brisbane Test, which saw him gain two places and move to second place in the rankings. At the same time, during the second Test in Adelaide, he scored 103 and 51, as Australia defeated England by 275 runs to take a 2–0 lead in the Ashes.

His teammate Mitchell Starc broke into the top 10 of the bowling rankings after taking six wickets for 80 runs in the second Test. Now he has reached 9th place. Apart from bowling, Starc scored an unbeaten 39 and 19 in both the innings with the bat, taking him to No. 6 in the rankings for Test all-rounders.

England captain Joe Root achieved his career-best rating in the all-rounders’ rankings. After taking 86 runs and three wickets in the second Test, he moved up two places to No. 10.

Once again Babar Azam of Pakistan became the King of T20

At the same time, in T20, Pakistan captain Babar Azam has once again occupied the top position in the list of batsmen. Babar had lost two places in last week’s ranking update after scoring 0 and 7 in the first two T20 Internationals against the West Indies. But he is at the top of the rankings with England’s David Malan after a knock of 79 runs in the third match, which helped Pakistan clean sweep the West Indies. His fellow opener Mohammad Rizwan has performed tremendously in 2021. He has secured the third position in the rankings of T20 batsmen with a career-best rating of 798.
