Chinese President Xi Jinping vows to support Cuba on core interests

Beijing. Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Cuban counterpart have vowed to mutually support the “core interests” of each other’s communist countries. Xi told Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez that China looks forward to strengthening coordination and cooperation in Cuban international and regional affairs.

A Chinese government press release quoted Xi as saying that the two countries will walk shoulder to shoulder on the road to socialism with each other’s characteristics. China usually defines core interests as the country’s economic and political development goals, as well as control over the territories it claims, especially Taiwan.

However, the Chinese government release did not mention any specific issue or other country. Mongolian President Ukhnagin Khurelsukh and European Council President Charles Michel are scheduled to visit Beijing next week.
