Tim Southee On Mumbai Test: The second Test between India and New Zealand will be played from Friday, 3 December at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After the first Test was drawn, this match has become very important for both the teams. Whichever team will win in this match, the series will be named after him. However, New Zealand’s senior bowler Tim Southee has given a big statement before the Mumbai Test.
Tim Southee said that in the second Test, the players of the team will have to fight a new challenge to win the match, for which they will have to perform well on the field. Chasing a target of 284 runs in the first Test, New Zealand scored 165/9. New Zealand remained in the match for almost 10 overs with Ravindra and Patel leading the match to a draw.
Southee was asked during a press conference here on Thursday whether he felt momentum was in his favor after the draw. He said, “No, I don’t think so. We could have achieved a lot with our efforts in Kanpur and we know that now we have to fight the next challenge. The last Test was very exciting.”
It rained throughout the day in Mumbai on Wednesday. Rain has also been predicted on Friday. It is believed that the conditions may favor the fast bowlers. Although New Zealand’s middle order did not contribute much in the Kanpur Test, Southee said that they are not worried about it.
Southee praised young players Rachin Ravindra and Ejaz Patel for their courageous batting in the Kanpur Test and said the batsmen also had their own preparation to face the Indian spinners. New Zealand defeated India in their Test at Wankhede in 1988.
