Its 10 tablets will cost up to Rs 60 and this medicine will be available at the generic drugstore Janaushadhi Kendras. Also, the most popular drug for diabetes, metformin is already included in the list of generic drugs, but sitagliptin is considered to be an even more effective drug. The specialty of this medicine is that it gives great benefit to the patients of type 2 diabetes. This medicine does not lower the blood sugar too much. Apart from this, this medicine does not cause any harm to the heart, whereas many other diabetes medicines have such dangers.

Available at very low price from the market

Let us tell you that the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued a statement in this regard saying that the Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI) has launched new versions of sitagliptin and its mixtures at Janaushadhi Kendras. In such a situation, now this medicine, which is available in the market at a price of two hundred and fifty rupees or more, has become very cheap. Ravi Dadhich, CEO, Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana said that the prices of all types of this medicine are 60 to 70 percent less than the branded medicines. The price of branded medicines of the same medicine ranges from Rs 160 to Rs 258. Ten tablets containing 50 milligrams (mg) of sitagliptin phosphate are available for Rs 60, while those of 100 mg are available for Rs 100. Whereas, sitagliptin and metformin hydrochloride in the ratio 50mg/500mg will be available at Rs 65 per 10 tablet while a 50mg/1000mg mixture will be available for Rs 70. Under the generic drug, the combination of sitagliptin and metformin will also soon be available at Jan Aushadhi stores.

As many as 8700 Jan Aushadhi stores in the country

At present there are 8700 Jan Aushadhi stores in India, where 1600 medicines are sold. Soon 138 more drugs will be included in this category and can be sold as generic drugs at cheaper prices. 138 new drugs have also been identified. They are expected to reach generic stores by the end of this year.
