Rahane tried to tamper with the very first ball outside the off-stump by Olivier and became the fast bowler’s 50th victim in the 11th Test. Keegan Pietersen took his easy catch at slips. Rahul and Vihari then took the innings forward. Vihari made a positive start after lunch with a four off Lungi Ngidi. Although he was lucky in the same fast bowler’s over when the ball was played in the air, but Temba Bavuma, standing on point, dropped an easy catch.

Vihari and Rahul played some attractive shots in the meantime. Elgar made Rabada return to the bowling and his bouncing ball gave another success to the hosts. After tea break, Pant caught the wicketkeeper off Jensen’s delivery while Shardul Thakur caught Pietersen at slip off Olivier in the next over without opening the account. Ashwin took the ball of Rabada and Olivier to the boundary but Shami (09) caught Rabada on his own delivery. In the next over, Ashwin was also caught by Pietersen by waving Jensen’s ball in the air. Bumrah (14 not out) took the team’s score past 200 runs in Rabada’s over with two fours and sixes, but this fast bowler ended the Indian innings by getting Mohammad Siraj (01) caught by the wicketkeeper in his next over.
