Sitharaman retaliated strongly on Mahua’s ‘matchbox’ statement, said- after winning the BJP elections…
New Delhi. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman hit back at Trinamool Congress’s Mahua Mitra’s match-match statement in the Lok Sabha, saying that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) brings light to people’s lives by winning elections, while the Trinamool Congress won the assembly elections. People’s houses have been burnt.
Responding to the two-day long discussion on the first batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants for 2022-23 and Additional Demands for Grants for 2019-20 in the Lok Sabha, Sitharaman said on Wednesday that the question is not in whose hand the match is in hand but the important one. This is how to use a matchbox. In a democracy, the public gives a chance to the government by giving mandate, so there is no need to ignore the public.
He said that the central government has used ‘matchbox’ to bring light in people’s lives by bringing schemes like Ujjwala, whereas in West Bengal, arson has taken place after the election victory. The Finance Minister made this remark in response to the attack on the government by Mahua Mitra of Trinamool Congress on Tuesday. Participating in the discussion, the Trinamool MP had said on Tuesday that I request this government and the Finance Minister to control the economy. I urge the people of the country to exercise control over those who have been entrusted with the command of this country.
During this, while narrating a share, he had said that the question is not who burnt the slums, the question is who gave the matchstick in the hands of the lunatic. Sitharaman further said that there is a need to learn from BJP how to celebrate victory. He said the BJP recently won a landslide victory in the Gujarat assembly elections and after the elections the new government was sworn in peacefully. Everyone has seen what happened after the West Bengal assembly election results.
