It is being told that Kharge met Sonia Gandhi and submitted his resignation under the principle of ‘one man one post’ adopted by the Congress party at Udaipur Chintan Shivir .

After Kharge’s resignation, the names of P. Chidambaram and Digvijay Singh are emerging in the race for the post of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha. Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia will appoint a new leader as the ‘Leader of Opposition’ and will convey her decision to the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. Now the question arises here that who will replace Kharge as the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.

If sources are to be believed, the party will take this decision after due consideration. He’s in no hurry right now. Because right now his full focus will be on the election of the President. However, there is a discussion in the camp that this post of Kharge can go to a leader of ‘Hindi speaking region’. Sources say that Digvijay Singh, Pramod Tiwari and Mukul Wasnik can also be contenders for this post. However, it is too early to say anything on this. Right now the entire focus of the Congress is on the Presidential election.
