RIL jumps 51 places to 104th in Fortune Global 500 list

RIL: Billionaire Industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries has achieved a big achievement. Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has jumped 51 places to 104th position in the Fortune Global 500 list. Reliance, which has intervened in the oil to telecom sector, has reached the 104th position in the list released by Fortune for 2022. In the year 2021, Reliance Industries was ranked 155th in Fortune’s Global 500 list.

India’s nine companies included

Nine Indian companies have been included in the Fortune Global 500 list. Five of them are from the public sector and four are from the private sector. Only state-run Life Insurance Corporation of India has got a ranking ahead of Reliance. LIC got the 98th position in the Fortune 500 list. Life Insurance Corporation of India tops the list of Indian companies. Other private sector companies that have been ranked in Fortune’s Global 500 list are Tata Motors, Tata Steel and Rajesh Exports. The list is followed by Tata Motors (ranked 370) and Tata Steel (ranked 435). Rajesh Exports is another private Indian company with 437th position in the list. State Bank of India (SBI) climbed 17 places to 236th and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd., up 19 places to 295th. The Fortune Global 500 list ranks companies based on total revenue for the fiscal year ended on or before March 31, 2022. Chinese energy giants State Grid, China National Petroleum and Sinopec rounded out the top five. For the first time, the total revenue of companies in Greater China (including Taiwan) exceeds the total revenue of US companies on the list.

American company Walmart on top

Indian Oil Corporation has been ranked 142 in Fortune’s Global 500 list. IOC is the third best among Indian companies. Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is ranked 190th. It ranks fourth among Indian companies. State Bank of India is at 236th position. This time the American company Walmart has occupied the top of the Fortune 500 list. Amazon is in second place and Apple in third.
