Dadasaheb Phalke Award for Actress Asha Parekh

New Delhi. Veteran actress Asha Parekh will be honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2020. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur gave this information on Tuesday. The award will be presented to Parekh, 79, during the 68th National Film Awards ceremony to be held on Friday.

Dadasaheb Phalke is the highest award in the field of Indian cinema. Thakur told reporters in his parliamentary constituency Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh that the five-member Dadasaheb Phalke Award Committee comprising Asha Bhosle, Hema Malini, Poonam Dhillon, Udit Narayan and TS Nagbharan has chosen Parekh’s name for the honour. The minister said that he decided in the meeting that this time Asha Parekh ji would be honored with Dadasaheb Phalke Award. He will be presented this award during the National Film Awards ceremony.

Parekh started his acting career at the age of 10, which lasted for almost five decades. She started her career as a child artist with the 1952 film “Askman” and came into limelight two years later with Bimal Roy’s “Baap Beti”. ( Language)
