Recommendation to make Justice Chandrachud CJI
New Delhi. Chief Justice of India (CJI) UU Lalit on Tuesday recommended the name of senior-most Justice DY Chandrachud to the Center as his successor. The CJI has submitted a copy of his letter to Justice Chandrachud.
The government had on October 7 sent a letter to the CJI asking him to recommend the name of his successor. Justice Chandrachud will become the 50th CJI on November 9. A day before this, CJI Lalit will retire. Justice Chandrachud will have a two-year term and will retire on November 10, 2024. (Language)
