RCB picks replacement of Washington Sundar, Bengal fast bowler gets a place in the team
IPL 2021: Before the second part of the Indian Premier League season 14, Royal Challengers Bangalore has suffered a major setback. RCB’s star all-rounder Washington Sundar will not be seen playing in the second half of IPL 14. RCB has replaced Sundar in place of Bengal fast bowler Akash Deep in the team.
Washington suffered a finger injury during a warm-up match against County XI ahead of the Test series against England. He was immediately taken for X-ray which showed the fracture. Washington Sundar had arrived at the National Cricket Academy to give a fitness test, but could not pass it now.
RCB has confirmed Akash Deep’s joining the team. RCB issued a statement saying, “Team all-rounder Washington will be out of IPL 2021 due to injury. Bengal state cricketer Akash Deep has been taken as his replacement.”
Akash Deep can prove to be better
Akash Deep made his T20 debut in March 2019 and has taken 21 wickets so far. However, Akash Deep has not yet got a chance to play in the IPL. But looking at the kind of bowler Akash Deep is, he can prove to be effective in the UAE.
However, RCB is in good form during the 14th season of IPL. RCB remain at number two in the points table after winning five out of seven matches. RCB will start their campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders in the second leg of IPL 2021 from September 20.
