PM Modi calls Tokyo Paralympic gold medalist Sumit Antil to congratulate

PM Modi congratulates Sumit Antil: Para athlete Sumit Antil made the country proud by winning the Gold Medal at the Tokyo Paralympics on Monday. Sumit won the medal by creating a new world record in the javelin throw class F-64 event. Sumit made a world record with a throw of 68.55 meters in the final. After his success, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called and talked to Sumit.
What did PM Modi say
Prime Minister Modi called up Sumit Antil and congratulated him for winning the gold and performing the historic feat. The PM told him that he made the country proud and appreciated his spirit of resilience. He said that the youth will be inspired by Sumit and Sumit has also made his family proud.

India got second gold medal
This is India’s second gold. Earlier, female shooter Avani Lekhara had won gold in 10m Air Rifle SH1 on Monday. This is India’s second gold medal in this Paralympics, while it has won a total of seven medals. Apart from Sumit, Australia’s Michael Burian took the silver with a throw of 66.29m while Sri Lanka’s Dulhan Kodithuvaku took the bronze with a throw of 65.61m. Sumit and Burian broke the previous world record while the Sri Lankan athlete put up his personal best.
